Improving Moldovan Student Councils

About the project
The project aims to improve the rights of Moldovan young people and their access to decision making processes by developing, approving and implementing new regulations and guidelines for student councils in Moldovan schools in cooperation with the Moldovan Ministry of Education and relevant local stakeholders.
The Councils are a requirement according to Moldovan educational law, but few schools have proper implementation. This project will address the deficiencies of student councils in their current form and revitalise the official regulations and complementing guidelines.
The overall objective of the project is to increase the rights of students in schools and expanding the capacity of the student councils.
The long-term purpose of the project is to ensure that the Moldovan youth is participating in democracy and included in decision-making procedures.
About the organisations
Silba – Initiative for Dialogue and Democracy is a volunteer-based youth organisation (est. 1994) working to promote democracy and dialogue internationally. In Denmark, the aim is to inform its members and Danish society about the history, culture, political situation and development of democracy. Silba’s main international activities are election observation missions (EOMs) and long-term development projects.
Pro Bono, Information and Resource Center “Pro Bono” is a non-governmental organization, founded in 2017, which aims to contribute to the realization of the concept of the rule of law in the Republic of Moldova, as well as the promotion of the legal profession, legal science and culture in society, working with youth, involvement in community development.
STUDEM Youth Centre is a self-governing structure for young people from the Balti municipality established within a long-lasting Moldovan-Danish partnership. The basic aim of the Centre is to strengthen democracy in the Republic of Moldova by teaching democratic principles to young people.
