Support hub for regional media

About the initiative

The initiative aimed to create a support hub for regional media in Ukraine. The project supported 5 independent regional print media for newspaper production and 7 regional news outlets for content production.

  • Total circulation published supported by the project: 133 127 copies
  • Total number of exclusive content, produced and published supported by the project: 1 515 articles
  • Total average monthly audience of the media, supported by the project: 2 330 962 unique users per month.
About the organisation

Association “Independent Regional Press Publishers of Ukraine” unites approx. 20 publishing houses and was founded in 2006 by several regional publishing companies with the main purpose to protect and promote the economic interests of its members. AIRPU regularly conducts training and networking events, participates in legislative initiatives and conducts industry surveys and research to improve the quality and type of content publishers generate. It also seeks to improve the professionalism of media managers and journalists and create conditions for sustainable development and independence. After February 24, AIRPPU helps independent media to survive and keep doing their journalistic job.

Partner organisation

International Media Support is part of the consortium behind The New Democracy Fund. International Media Support is the largest development organisation in the Nordic Region. They work in more than 30 countries across four continents promoting press freedom, good journalism, and safety for journalists.
